Good day fellow T4C player :)

We all know the importance of leveling whenever we have a spare minute. In the perfect world you would be able to play everywhere including your hunting camp while waiting for sasquash to show up. I have tested a way to do just that. I swear I'm not using black magic to summon a router out of death racoons. The way to do it is simply tethering.

What is tethering?

How well does it work?

How much does it cost?

1) What is tethering? "Tethering" is the use of your cell phone -- or other Internet-enabled mobile device -- as a modem for another device, usually a notebook or in this case, your laptop. The connection is made either with a cable (USB or serial) or wirelessly through bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Basically connecting your computer to the internet using your cellphone data plan. For t4C, the use of a wired connection is a must.

2) How well does it work? I'm connected on 3G with 1-2 bars at the moment, its not ideal but it's enough to xp without hick ups. With a full stenght signal i can pvp 1vs1 without problems. It would be risky in mass pvp; therefore, it is not a replacement connection, just a good option to play when away from home :)

3) How much does it cost? It depends on your data plan... You will need to do some math but T4C takes only 5MB/ hours so you can play a lot without busting your contract.

4) How does it work? Basically you need a smartphone with a data plan. You download and install PDAnet for free http://junefabrics.com/ once installed on your computer, make sure your phone is on usb debugging mode (settings/applications/development/USB Debugging), plug it in your usb port, right click on your computer's pdanet icon (system tray) then install the program to your phone. Once it's done, open the pdanet program on your phone, enable usb tethering, on computer right click on the system tray icon and connect.

It was tested on Galaxy S but should work the same with all android phone. They(pdanet) also have an iPhone version but i cannot provide any assistance during the installation cause i ain't stupid enough to buy an iPhone :)

Now all you need is a solar panel to charge your laptop while playing. :)

Happy geeking,
